I was going to write this big long thing about the Pledge and the federal court ruling, but it has a hold put on it already. Maybe I'll get around to it later.

Due to the fact my boss finally let me in one the fact she can only schedule me 200 total hours this summer (nice to know at the end of June when I've already worked about 75) I head out into the world of job searching today.

I know the odds of finding something are low, but I need $$$.

A note for those of you out there that use your local library and other public facilities.

Just because you go to a place and spend a lot of time there, you don't own it and you don't the right to fix stuff.

There's this guy that keep coming in to the library and he's started to take initiative to fix/reload the copier himself and today he was trying to figure out how to put toner in our printer. There's people at the counter and he doesn't ask, he just does it! It's really frustrating especially when he has almost broken things trying to do it himself. Just ask, guy, just ask.

Found a cool show last night. Monster Garage on the Discovery Channel. They take a car and turn it into something else. Like last night they turned a 1998 Beetle into a swamp buggy and a 5.0 Mustang into a lawn mower. It's on all afternoon and evening this Sunday, so if you get a chance, check it out.

Whoa, this is interesting stuff

Archive.org is a place where you can put in a URL and see how a web page was on different date in different years. You can also see web pages that no longer exist anymore, it's pretty neat.

For instance, here's is what MVNU's web page looked in 1997 and 1998. Pretty nasty web design for a college.

Monday at the Movies - Bandits

One of the two movies I watched last night was Bandits. It stars Bruce Willis and Billy Bob Thorton as America's most successful bankrobbers and Cate Blanchett as the foil. more

This is the most perfect day I can remember.

Alexis and I spent 3 hours at the pool (I say the pool like you all know what pool, but anyways). Then went to Subway and got a couple of movies. With lots of good conversations in between. It was exactly what I needed.

The only bad thing is now my shoulders, back, and chest are now sunburnt. See, I did the brilliant, "hey my arms, legs, neck, and face are already tan, so I'll put sunscreen on them and not the rest of me" I knew it was a stupid idea, but I did it anyways. But at least I don't have a nice gleaming white under my shirt. Instead... I have reverse tan lines... but the places were I put sunblock are all nicely tanned now. The last few years my sun burns have turned to tans in a day or so. I'm hoping this time is the same.

Got together with Chris, Kayli and Tara tonight. It was fun dispite the fact we were all very tired and out of it.

6.20.2002

There are many things that can make me happy. Tonight I did one of the things that make me the happiest:

Quality time (more specifically 3 1/2 hours at Friendly's) with one of my most amazing friends who I don't get to see near enough these days.

Does it bother/suprise/confuse/whatever anyone else the the so much of the world can be in chaos, but everything is fine and dandy in Ohio?

I can't decide how I feel about it.

6.19.2002

And so it begins

I have started another blog. See here.

By the way, this is the new thing I was talking about.

or the ones that work now

6.18.2002

and no, the not working pictures on the sidebar aren't it.

something new is coming...

Why can't these people realize they aren't accomplishing anything?

Movie List Update

I realized a two movies I forgot and saw an outstanding movie last night. So these changes are being made.

Spaceballs, a classic I forgot will go in #36

Goonies, THE classic which I also somehow forgot, goes into #23

K-PAX (which I saw last night) was incredible and Kevin Spacy was amazing. I'm putting it in slot #13.

All others are moved accordingly.

So I was making myself a salad for lunch today. I got out this package of these precut, chicken square things made by Louis Rich. I see at the top: "New! Great Taste!" So what are they saying here? They already had the product on the market but just decided to make it taste good? That they're that excited about the fact that they got one of their products to taste "great"? I just don't think it's sending the right message.

Another Survey

Also from Dreama.

Ethics/Personal Life:

- Has a blog post ever got you into trouble?
I wouldn't say trouble. But I've gotten into some arguments with friends that I wish wouldn't of happened.

- How many people do you know face-to-face who read your weblog?
Pretty much everyone. It's a small readership around these parts.

- Have you met any of your regional (or even remote) bloggers?
Not quite sure what this is asking.

- Do you modify or delete posts? How often? Why?
I'll change spelling and grammar errors. If I change any content, I'll mark it. But I usually don't. I rarely if ever delete.

- How much is your weblog a part of your personal identity? Do you feel like people who don't know about your blog don't really know you?
I don't say anything on here I wouldn't talking to someone.

-How has blogging changed your life?
Um, I have a web log now?

Technical/Design:

- Do you know how to code at all? Did you learn how to code by blogging?
Any coding I've done I've learned from studying and analyzing other peoples code. Cheap? Yeah. But it's the best I could do.

-What weblogging tool do you use and why?
Blogger. Because it's user friendly for the most part and that's the only one I knew about when I started.

-Does the design seem like something that is just something that has to be dispensed with in order to be able to write publicly, or is your design an integral part of your writing and presentation?
It's the only template I liked. If I knew how to do my own, I would. I like designing but I don't know how to do it HTML style.

-How many times have you changed your weblog design entirely (or nearly so)?
Um... 3ish?

Readership/Motivation:

- How many people would you guess (educated guess based on hit counts/logfiles) read your weblog on a weekly basis at least?
Not a whole lot. But most of my readers are people I care about so it's fine with me.

- What have you done to get more people to look at your site?
Nothing really. I have a link on my e-mail sig if that counts. And it's in my AIM profile.

- What one or two characteristics make a blog really popular? Are there things that you could do to have more people read your weblog that you conciously do not do? Why?
I don't know. I guess if it's interesting and if people can identify with it.

-What really popular weblog do you think most deserves it...and/or least deserves it?
I don't know.

-How do you feel about your readership? What makes for a quality readership to you?
I'm happy with it, because like I said before. For the most part it's just my friends.

Influence of Other Bloggers:

- What other blogger is most responsible for you starting your own weblog?
I always enjoyed reading Tiff's. So I'll say her.

-Who was the first other blogger (that you know of) who put you on their sidebar, and how did you feel? How did it influence your blogging?
Eh? I dunno.

- What other blogger do you most admire for their writing skills?
David

- What other blogger do you most admire for their design skills?
Tiff again.

- Who is a blogger that you think is really good but doesn't get nearly the attention they are worthy of?
Dunno

- Do you feel obligated to have people on your link lists/sidebars that you never read?
I regularly visit all the sites on my sidebar.

- What one or two characteristics define a really quality blog (in your humble opinion, of course)?
Honesty and Purpose

6.11.2002

New Link

As you may notice, there is a new link to my good friend Jeniece's website. It's her first shot a web page so go check it out. Just don't call her Janice while you're there.

My Spot

I followed Tiff's lead and found my spot. Want to find yours?

My Top Spots:

1) Kent, Washington
2) Lynchburg, Virginia
3) Bloomington, Indiana
4) Rochester, Minnesota
5) Roanoke, Virginia
6) Carlisle, Pennsylvania
7) Lewiston Maine
8) Altoona, Pennslyvania
9) Hickorry, North Carolina
10) Springfield Missouri

5 more places in Washington, Cinncinnati is a ways down, and both Duluth Minnesota and Seattle made the list. Jeez, what an array of places. This really reflects the fact I don't know where I want to live.

At long last

Well, it took me until June 11, but I finally got hold of an AOL cd (they're all over the place when you want one, but hard to find when you need one) and I have the internet in my room. So now I can see comments every day and I finally have my issues with MVNC's e-mail worked out. I know most of you don't know or care about that, but I've very happy so you got to read it anyways.

6.10.2002

Eww...

I don't know about the rest of you, but our house has been overtaken by spiders. I've been killing a couple a day. Maybe they were inspired by the movie and are taking over the world or something, I don't know. But it's nasty.

Tonight I took out spray and got like 7 on our front porch. Ever since I've had sensations of spiders crawling on me ever so often. ::shudder:: I hope I don't have dreams about it...

Busy Day

I was a good boy today.

This morning while my parents and brother were at work, I swept the entire downstairs and polished/dusted everything in our family room. That includes taking all the books, decorations, etc off and getting under there.

Then, I took some of my grandparents' favorite pizza (Sister's) to them, got my grandma's swing set up and played cards with them for awhile it was fun.

The only bummer of the day was not making it to the car show. Sorry Abe!!

6.7.2002

Going to the Tribe game tonight. Woo hoo!

6.6.2002

What am I doing wrong?

My page visits has dropped by about half over the last couple weeks. And comments have been hard to come by.

Did I get boring? Was I always boring and people just gave up?

Do I blog too much? Do I not blog enough?

I don't mind no one reading, I'm just curious why they stopped.

For Sale (or soon to be)

I'm leaning almost 100% towards selling my car. I love it, it's so much fun to drive. But I really want a Jeep. I like the converible and 4WD of the Wrangler. So I'm going to see if I can get what I want for my car, after I get out and fix the nice scratch my brother put on it last weekend. So if you know anyone who's interested in buying a car...

2000 Ford Mustang
34k miles
5-Speed, Blue
CD and Cassette
Power Windows, Locks, Driver's Seat
New Tires

Coming Soon to a Blog Near You

I'm going to start working on a list of my favorite movies. Hopefully someone will care.

**Update - I have 37 at the moment. I'll sleep on it and think of what I'm missing. I'll shoot for 50.

Movie Review

I dropped the Monday thing. Things are never regular on my blog anymore. (editor's note: I'm trying to remain from the phrase irregular blog movements...)

I just watched The Others starring Nicole Kidman. It was weird. Not to give away too much, but it's kind of a combination of What Lies Beneath and Sixth Sense. There was some cheap suspense film scares with a plot you had to pay attention to even though the end was out of no where. It wasn't too shabby, I'm not sure if I'd recommend it or not. But if you're in the mood for a strange movie, this one's for you.

6.3.2002

I actually had a guy come up to the counter of the library and say "okey smokey"

Just thought I'd share that.

6.2.2002

Jeez

I think he should of went back and got it in something he hasn't been doing for this long and won so many awards in. You know he was the annoying kid always answering all the questions.

Golfing Update

It was interesting. I sucked big time. Alexis did very well for it being only her second time golfing. She even beat me two holes.

6.1.2002

On the Links

I'm going golfing today for the first time in about 2 years. It should be interesting.

...

I really don't have anything to say.
