Blogger

Well I'm back from the weekend and posting my first Blog as a 20 year old. Yeah that's right, April 28 is my birthday. Woo hoo. I had a grand total of 2 3 friends (including my girlfriend) remember. I'm glad I'm 20. I never liked the number 19...

Pet Peeves

I felt like sharing some of my pet peeves with everyone. Here are the top five in somewhat of an order.

1. Bad parking jobs. Is it really that hard to get a car between two lines? There's like 3 feet of leeway in there. Like three-quarters on the guys in our parking lot can't park worth anything and it ends up screwing everyone up.
2. When a large group of people are entering or exiting a building and all filter into one open door when there are several closed. When this happens if you WANT to open another door you have to wait for the filtering people to move.
3. People that pull out in front of you really fast and then drive really slow. No explination needed.
4. Telemarketers. Especially the ones who dial like 5 numbers at once and hang up on the last four to pick up so you just get a click. I think this is on everyone's list.
5. The clicking and popping noised of popped knuckles and fingernail chewing... yuck.

That's all for now. If I think of more I'll post them later.

Time Issues

Alexis and I went to Mr. MVNC tonight. It's like a homecoming for guys. I can't decide whether or not it was a complete waste of time. I know for sure most of it was. But I can't decide if it was as a whole. It did allow some time to relax and not do homework which was nice.

What was NOT a waste of time was my friend Terri's clarinet recital. She was AWESOME!! I usually don't like clarinets but she can really make that thing sing.

Let's play "Toss the Dell Out the Window"

My computer is really starting to get me cheesed. It's now telling me I'm out of free memory space and I need to clean up my hard drive.

I have 3 gigs free....

Buying a laptop over the summer is becoming more and more of a possibility

Spring Cleaning

Since it seemed to be bothering so many people, I followed suit and took last weeks posts off the main page and to the archives. But just so everyone is aware, as far as I know Chuck and I are ok and getting along. We both accepted each others views, we just don't agree on them. We're friends, we can work stuff like that out.

Monday at the Movies

Last night I enjoyed two movies, both for the second time.

Stepmom straring Julia Roberts and Susan Serrandsomethingorother is a chick flick about, you guessed it, a stepmom. I do really like this movie. Otherwise, I wouldn't own it. But yeah, if you like chick flicks, you'll like this. It gets an :-)

Gone in 60 Seconds is a fast-paced, grand-theft-auto film staring... the guy from Family Man... and The Rock....and Face/Off.... shoot... I can't think of it. I think it's John. Anywho. It's an ok movie with a lot of nice cars. I think I like The Fast and the Furious better, though. I'll give it an :-|

#1

Hands down best weekend in a long, long time.

If the Tribe hadn't of been swept by those dirty Twins... it might of been perfect.

Standing up in a Bring You Down World

I tried to show my friend I cared.
I was told I wasn't cared about.
I tried to show my friend my side.
I was mocked and made fun of.
But you know what?
It didn't hurt.
Because you know what?
I don't care about me.
My friend is still hurting themself.
My friend still doesn't care.
But I have had this friend for a long time.
And I refuse to stop caring.
They can mock all they want.
And laugh all they want.
But I won't stop caring about them.
I won't stop caring out everyone.
Whether we've met or not.
Whether they judge me or not.
I care about them and how they are doing.
What they are thinking.
What they are drinking.
I won't stop trying.
I won't give up.
They'll be in my prayers.
And I will continue to care.

This week has been rough. I've been through a lot emotionally. I've gained a lot of respect for one of my friends, Abe, that I really haven't gotten to hang out with in a long time. I've learned a lot about one of my friends, Chuck, who I thought I knew, but now I know there's a lot more to know. I want to thank one of my friends, who sent me an e-mail and I don't know if they want their name revealed, for sending me your thoughts. Although I'm not sure if I agree, I respect your opinions and appreciated them very much. And I've added someone to my prayer list, yes you Dave. I don't care if you mock me. I don't care if you hate me. I don't have that in me, so I will not retaliate. I say God bless you and I pray that whatever bad thing it was that happened to you can be resolved. I pray that you'll see that alcohol might not be the answer. I pray that some day we might even become friends. And I want you to know this: I'm a very easy going guy. But I have strong beliefs on certain issues. I am also very willing to discuss those issues and I love debate. If you disagree with me, you don't have to post that I'm a "f******* idiot" on someone else's site and mock me on your own. You can talk to me, IM me, e-mail me, whatever and I'd be happy to discuss it with you.

Have a great weekend everybody.

Nice Nights

This week is starting out well after the hour of 7 or so.

Last night Alexis and I took a blanket to the grove and looked at stars and talked.

Tonight it was tennis and sand volleyball. It was a blast.

Also, a side note. It will probably rain tomorrow, I washed my car today...

I just sneezed on my keyboard. It came too quick to cover up.... ick....

I need to get to bed now. I've enterend Planet T.M.I.

Opinions and Beliefs: Drinking

Let's talk about drinking. Well, I'll talk you read.

Drinking involves consuming an alcholic beverage. I don't care how much or how little.
My personal experience with drinking is this: my grandma made me take a sip of champange a few years ago on New Years. I still regret not telling her no more sternly. I've seen several of my friends drinking and drunk and I've had pretty much no respect for them since.
Why do I think drinking is so bad? Well for one part of this, I'm going to turn to some of the things my Marketing prof was saying the other day. She said that even if you just try alchohol, just a daquari here or a wine cooler there, you're still opening the door to bigger potenital problems. If you get dumped or someone dies or something, you are very very more likey to turn to alchohol if you've tried it before then if you've never touched it.
One thing I've never understood is why in the world people would even WANT to drink. It makes you smell nasty, throw up, wake up with a nasty headache, do completly stupid things, and it just plaid takes you out of control of who you are. You can't think straight, see straight, act straight, whatever. I hate throwing up with a passion, I would never do anything to induce it on purpose. I don't understand how drinking can make a person feel good. It makes you sick. Your body doesn't like it. It detiorates many places within your body as it goes through your system. HOW IS THAT GOOD?! All for one night of forgetting some pain or acting like an idiot. I've always said I act strange enough when I'm sober, I don't want to know what I'd be like drunk. I'd like to say I'm one of many who go to parties just to laugh at the drunk people, but I don't find it funny. The people drinking are hurting themselves and calling it fun. Now some of you may be saying, "I've drank lots of times and I'm fine" yeah, maybe for now. But think of the things that could have happened when you were drunk. Think of the things that still could happen to your body as a result of it in the future. Think of all the people that have died because of direct (or inderect, in drunk driving) incidents. Is it really worth it?
I have a blast hanging out with my friends, I have tons of fun in life. Why would I need alchohol? What would that help? If I have a problem that's bothering me, I turn to friends. Why turn to a bottle? The bottle runs dry, friends are there forever if they're really friends. Friends don't cost money. Friends aren't against the law if you're under 21. And it's one o'clock am so I'm not going to get into the religious aspect, which is the most important. Yeah, they drank wine in the Bible, I know. But there's a difference between having a glass of wine and having some shots, some beer, some whiskey, until you don't know what's going on and you have to ask people what happened. Well, it's late, I need to get to bed. I apologize for the million typos that are probably in this, but I'm tired. I might fix them later.

I bought two computer games today. the most notible being High Heat Baseball 2003. I must now test my self control and do my research paper...

Rave Reviews

The Wiz was AWESOME!! Hands down, best Wiz of my life. Ok, enough of those kind of jokes. But I was amazed by how well this was done. The four lead girls were incredible, the sets were awesome, there was a monkey on a foot high bicycle, what more could you ask for?? Kudos to Erica on her first singing role, too. The only thing was, I could still imagine all these people as freshman and they're SENIORS!!!! AAHHH!!! I'm old!!! Ok, maybe not that old. But fellow class of 2000ers do you realized after this year we will only have gone to school with 1/4 of the high school?? The seniors, that's it. Wow... ok off the subject. Wiz was great, Bliss afterwards was great, the whole day was great. I'm going to get ready for church now.

Find out which Moulin Rouge song you are.

Friday Five

Ok, we're all back to normal now. Here's the first friday five in a while.
And I was first this week, what a comeback!

1. What is your favorite restaurant and why? Yikes, El Campasinos or Bliss Cafe

2. What fast food restaurant are you partial to? Wendy's and Burger King. Oh, and Subway

3. What are your standards and rules for tipping? I tip big because my mom was a waitress in high school so my parents always tipped big. Usually as some place like Bob Evans, I'll leave $4 or $5 when Alexis and I get dinner.

4. Do you usually order an appetizer and/or dessert? Sometimes an appetizer, hardly ever dessert unless we're at friendly's

5. What do you usually order to drink at a restaurant? Water with lemon. real exciting, I know. but it's healthy

Thank you Lord for giving us what might be the most perfect weather of the year.

Thank you to the Tribe for sweeping the Twins :-)

Bikin'

Alexis' and I biked 10 miles this afternoon. I feel good. But I need a shower.

Still Dissed

ESPN.com, foxsports.net, even MLB.com NONE of them have any stories about the Indians and how they're the best team in baseball. I guess they just can't admit they were wrong. So sad.

It's been weird this morning. I keep going between being really tired and being wide awake...

Alas! A sidebar of freedom!

I finally figured out (after looking through Chuck's code, thanks buddy) how to code the sidebar. So now I'll be using that, too. I'm happy. This had been bugging me for a while. Also, I saw another blog named Ross' Random Ramblings so I renamed. I know this one is probably already taken, too but it's the best I could think of for now. I hope all the changes work. I'll fix bugs and stuff some this weekend, probably.

Monday at the Movies: Proof of Life and The Rookie

Proof of Life

This is a thriller starting Russel Crowe and Meg Ryan. Well, as you can guess by those two names, it's not bad. The action is good, the plot is good, the only thing I didn't really like was the ending. It was... awkward. I don't know how to explain it other than that. I'm not going too much in detail on this one. It's getting a :-|

The Rookie

Wow. This movie was awesome. It's the first movie in a long, long time I would go back to the theater and pay another seven bucks to see. The acting was incredible, the story was amazing (it's hard to believe it's true), and everything just fit together perfectly. I had read that some people thought the first hour was slow, but I disagree with that. I thought the whole thing was great. The only minor problem I had was they had this little (absolutly adorable) boy and I think they used for too many "awwww" camera shots. They milked it a little more than they needed to in my opinion. But yeah, this movie is now third in my list of favorite movies. (1 Moulin Rouge, 2 Beautiful Mind) kudos to Disney for not ruining this story. The Rookie gets Monday at the Movies' first :-D

I had an urge to just squirt some random person with my water bottle today. I'm not sure why, it just sounded like fun.

Anyways. Here's some notes on my day so far:
** got my stats test back. I got a B, but the lowest B possible. So I'm feeling rather mediocre on that
** got my persuasion test back. My highest test grade so far in there... 72% woo hoo... but he says it gets easier from here on out
** I stayed up until 2 in the morning finishing my marketing paper. we got to class and found out we were only doing peer evaluations today. it's not actually due until Friday.
** The Tribe won again, woo hoo!

4.6.2002

Coming Monday... A Monday at the Movies review of The Rookie starring Dennis Quaid

Tribe Wins! Tribe Wins!

The Cleveland Indians continued their impressive season starting run beating the Detroit Tigers today 5-3.

Things I've loved so far this season:
** They've been scoring a lot of runs, something we weren't supposed to do
** They're in in first (yeah, we're tied, so what)
** The pitching has been OUTSTANDING (Colon and Baez rule!!)
** They're showing the critics (Abe) we're better than most people thought.
** The new guys have been really stepping up. Especially Lawton.

I know they haven't played any great teams yet, but they have been very convincing.
